Sophie-Alexia Joly de Lotbinière I Resonance

Space Gallery New York presents ‘Resonance’ | Sophie-Alexia Joly de Lotbinière Soho, New York City
April 10 – May - 2025
Vernissage: Thursday, April 10th, 6-8 PM with the artist
This April, Space Gallery New York is pleased to present ‘Resonance’, a solo exhibition of new works by Sophie-Alexia Joly de Lotbinière, an artist whose practice interlaces abstraction with the metaphysical, exploring the unseen connections that bind us to one another and the natural world. Through a process-driven approach integrating diverse materials and organic elements, Sophie-Alexia creates immersive compositions that examine interconnection as both a physical reality and a conceptual framework.  For over a decade, Sophie-Alexia has developed a distinct visual language that weaves together esoteric, social, and scientific concepts. This exhibition expands on her ongoing exploration of how environments shape perception and how individual elements contribute to a larger whole.  My work is deeply rooted in the idea that nothing exists in isolation,” says Sophie-Alexia. “Each element in nature, whether a tree in a forest, a ripple in water, or a shifting shadow, exists as part of a broader system. This same principle extends to human relationships, urban landscapes, and the way we interact with art itself.”  The exhibition reflects Sophie-Alexia’s signature use of natural materials, fluid compositional structures, and rhythmic layering to create dynamic visual environments. Organic forms emerge from abstract fields, mirroring the interplay between physical presence and intangible forces. Inspired by her background in both figurative and abstract painting, her works evoke the delicate balance between structure and movement, presence and absence.  Each piece serves as a meditation on continuity and coexistence, exploring the ways in which connections manifest across time, space, and scale. Whether drawing from biological networks, architectural forms, or personal memory, Sophie-Alexia invites viewers to consider the invisible threads that link us to our surroundings and to each other.  ABOUT THE ARTIST Sophie-Alexia Joly de Lotbinière (b.
